The Westside Breakers Girls under-14 Blue team coached by Rod Lafaurie won the Santa Barbara Spring Cup Tournament for a second year by going a perfect 4-0.
The girls started against the Santa Barbara All Stars and while the game had a slow start the Breakers picked up the pace, stayed aggressive and prevailed, winning 3-0.
In the second game, they met the Porterville Predators, who scored an early goal, but the Breakers came out inspired after the half and won the game 2-1. This win moved the Breakers into the semi-finals, where they were matched up with Oxnard Wave. The Breakers’ effective use of speed and resilience pushed them toward their 1-0 semi-final win and an afternoon championship showdown.
The championship game was a windswept and intense battle against the Coast Soccer Club, but the Breakers came out strong in the first half, scoring early and defending hard. The end result was a 1-0 victory and the final stamp to their tourney win. Each game had its challenges, but the U14 Blue came out on top due to faithful goal keeping, an unyielding back four, a tenacious midfield, and relentless pressure up top. Congratulations to all the girls on a job well done!
