Breakers U17 White Repeat as WCFC Classic Flight 1 Champs
Seeded behind ECNL and CSL Premier teams, the Breakers recently upgraded squad went about the business of proving the point that no team should take them lightly this year. In their first tournament since the Center of Excellence training camp at UCSB, the Breakers unleashed their increased speed, power and fitness on their opponents and rolled out a new look offense. Goals have always been in short supply on this team but at the WCFC tournament the team went undefeated, scoring 9 goals in 5 very competitive games.

The Breakers entertained the crowds with several world class goals coming from 6 different players. This improved finishing made the difference, particularly in the championship game against Real So. Cal Black, the defending Surf College Cup champions and CYSA National Cup semi-finalists. Despite a fantastic start to the game, the Breakers went one goal down against the run of play.  They demonstrated their character by answering with two incredible goals from new recruit Anisa Patterson. Real subjected the Breakers to enormous pressure in the second half, which resulted in them bundling a corner kick across the line very late in the game to tie the match at 2-2.

With penalty kicks looming, potential PK takers were being subbed onto the field. With seconds remaining on the clock Ella Warshauer rolled her defender and sent a left footed blast into the bottom corner of Real’s goal to break their hearts to complete the incredible back-to-back championship victory.
