Coaching Background and Experience
Rod is entering his fourth season with the Breakers after coaching with the Rovers Soccer Club in Calabasas. He also serves as the Brentwood High boys varsity head coach. Prior to that, he coached the Milken Community High School Varsity boys head coach where he lead them to a Liberty League Championship in 2006 and made it to the CIF quarterfinals. In 2003, he coached the Milken Middle School boys team to a league championship. Rod holds a USSF "D" coaching license.
As a player, Rod played his youth soccer in Orange County and his club team won the CSL Premier League championship at both the U17 and U19 levels. His team also won the prestigious Surf Cup two times in both 1998 and 2000. He won a CIF high school championship in 2000 with Mater Dei High School and was named to the All-CIF team. He was recruited and played collegiately as a goalkeeper at Cal State Northridge from 2001-2004. As both an outstanding player and student, Rod earned Big West Conference All-Academic 1st team honors from 2002-2004 and was named the 2003 CSUN Male Athlete of the Year. In 2003-04 he was named to the Big West Conference All-League team.
